What's New for 2019?

The short answer? Everything.

The upcoming 2019 Ranger will be the very first model in a new generation of American midsize trucks. While the platform has been previously available internationally, this is the first time the modern Ranger is available to an American audience. From looks to performance, everything about this truck is new for the U.S. market.

The 2019 Ranger comes with a base level of performance that's ready to satisfy the most demanding drivers. The heart of this performance is in the Ranger's standard EcoBoost engine. At every trim level, Ford's new midsize truck offers a 2.3-liter twin-scroll turbocharged engine with 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. This power runs through a ten-speed automatic SelecShift transmission. Additionally, auto Start/Stop technology can help conserve fuel during idling. Overall, the new Ranger is rated by the EPA at 21 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

The 2019 Ranger's strong engine and sturdy body-on-frame design result in some impressive towing and payload capacities. Hitch a trailer to your Ranger and you'll be ready to roll with a 7,500-pound tow rating. If you need to throw materials in the bed, you can be confident with the truck's 1,860-pound payload capacity.

Ford also knew during the design phase that drivers would expect a new Ranger to be ready for off-road use. Accordingly, the manufacturer offers the new truck with all sorts of off-road performance standard features and options.

  • Body-on-frame construction means better durability for off-road use.
  • A solid rear axle with leaf-spring suspension offers excellent all-terrain flexibility.
  • Available four-wheel drive lets you prepare for trails with the flip of a switch.
  • The optional FX4 package outfits the Ranger with a locking rear differential, upgraded shocks, skid plates, all-terrain tires, and more.
  • An available Terrain-Management System offers four selectable drive modes for different conditions.
  • Available Trail Control lets you set a low speed that the Ranger will maintain while you navigate through tough sections.

A few available media technologies can make the new 2019 Ranger even easier to live with.

SYNC 3: This multimedia infotainment system is an intuitive interface with smartphone applications and more. Whether you're using voice commands or touchscreen functions, you'll be able to access a range of awesome features. It's even compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Ford+Alexa: Via a smartphone app, you can connect your Ranger to the convenience of Amazon Alexa. Use voice navigation, connect smart home technology, or even shop on Amazon Prime -- all from your 2019 Ranger. This is an optional feature.

FordPass Connect: This optional feature turns your truck into an LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Via an AT&T network, you can connect up to ten mobile devices to the internet while cruising in your 2019 Ranger.

You can get your Ranger with an exciting new suite of active safety technologies called Ford Co-Pilot 360. This package includes:
